Since King Louis the Great founded the first Hungarian University in Pécs in 1367, the city has functioned as an educational center of the country and the region with longer and shorter interruptions. With 20,000 students and 500 different study programs at University of Pécs (UP), the oldest university in Hungary, is one of the largest institutions of higher education in the country. The highly qualified academic staff is guarantee that students are provided with the most up-to-date knowledge to the highest, internationally recognized standards and so earn degree, which is highly competitive in today’s labor market.

The university has conducted degree programs in English for more than 30 years and so has become one of the most internationalized universities in Hungary. We are proud to host over 4,500 international students coming from more than 110 countries of the world.
