Research vs applied sciences 

In the Netherlands, universities of applied sciences like NHL Stenden focus on practical learning, industry collaboration and professional skills. Research universities differ in that they focus more on theory, academic research and independent study. Both types of university lead to a bachelor’s degree, it’s just the way of learning that differs.

Fields and programmes 

NHL Stenden offers a wide range of English-taught bachelor’s and master’s programmes in fields including business, hospitality, tourism, media, IT, logistics, education, media & design, and governance. All programmes have a September start, and some also offer a February start. In general, bachelor’s degrees take 4 years, though some courses offer 3-year tracks.  Master’s programmes are one year full-time or two years part-time.

NHL Stenden offers modern facilities that support both study and student life, including professional labs and studios, library facilities, AV equipment hire, student-run learning environments such as the hotel, restaurant and canteens as well as a gym and campus café.
